When Jason W. rented his home in the Atlanta area<\/a>, a couple of things stood out to him right away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI love the opportunity to feel like a homeowner but also have the convenience of a property manager,<\/strong>\u201d he shared. \u201cI also love that Progress reports our monthly payments to the credit bureaus so we can build credit.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many renters, housing is their largest monthly expense. But historically, rent payments have done little to help people build credit<\/a>, even when payments are made consistently and on time. That can make it harder for households to qualify for loans, secure competitive interest rates or prepare for future goals like homeownership.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To help address that gap, Progress Residential reports on-time rent payments to the major credit bureaus. Missed or late payments are not reported. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPositive rent reporting is a free service we offer every resident,<\/strong>\u201d said Dave Feldman, CEO of Progress Residential. \u201cAs residents make timely payments month by month, they can positively affect their overall credit profile.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many residents, those changes can create greater financial flexibility and opportunity over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThousands of residents have applied for and received approval for home loans,<\/strong>\u201d said Nikki Sloup, Senior Vice President of Brand Communications and Public Relations for Progress. \u201cOthers have been approved for student loans, auto loans, and credit cards. Access to those financial tools can play an important role in helping people build toward the future they want.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
