Progress Residential Hosts Inaugural Safety Summit: Safe Housing in Thriving Communities

Event brings together top Atlanta elected officials, housing experts, nonprofit organizations and local law enforcement leaders to discuss pressing safety and housing challenges in Atlanta

 

Atlanta, GA (October 1, 2024) – Progress Residential, a leading provider of property management services for single-family rental homes in the U.S., hosted its inaugural Safety Summit: Safe Housing in Thriving Communities in Atlanta. The summit featured more than 25 speakers and panelists, including leaders from across Law Enforcement, Non-profit, Policy, and Housing sectors.

 

Hosted at the Georgia Municipal Association on Sept. 30, the event brought together housing experts, community organizers and nonprofits, local leaders, and elected officials to share insights and best practices for addressing the complex challenges of housing and public safety and drive dialogue around solutions. Participants had the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions, panel sessions, and networking with key stakeholders across various public/private sectors.

Key themes discussed throughout the day included:

 

  • Meeting Challenging Housing Needs: Leaders discussed how city and local governments are working together to meet evolving housing needs in the face of rapid economic growth and demographic changes. The panel also discussed barriers to homeownership and how renting offers a range of choices for attainable housing.
  • Partnering with Better Outcomes: Local government leaders for the City of Atlanta engaged with local community organization leaders talked about the importance of public private partnerships and how they are vital to scaling affordable housing and ensuring that community voices are heard. 
  • Law Enforcement and Community:  Law Enforcement leaders from South Fulton, Dekalb County, and Fulton County tackled topics around what local governments can do to support law enforcement to improve public safety and access to quality homes in safe neighborhoods where individuals and families can thrive.
